ABOUT PATRIK

ABOUT PATRIK

Patrik Grönqvist is a Finnish firefighter/rescue diver and technical diver with almost 30 years and the last 20 mostly in mines and caves diving. As a daily duty, Patrik has been working as a firefighter/rescue diver in the Helsinki City Fire Department since 2001/2005.

During the year Patrik is diving around in Finland doing both mines and wrecks explorations. Patrik has a range of experience in South European caves such as Pozo Azul, Ressel, St Saveur, Tannerie, Font Estramar and several more caves where he did his explorations or been a part of some exploration teams.

DIVE ACTIVITY
DIVE ACTIVITY

Patrik dives with Seacraft Ghost 2000 and the JJ-CCR as the primary rebreather in cold/deep water. In places like Mexico’s cenotes, he uses Seacraft GO or Seacraft Future Air Travel 800 and KISS Sidewinder. Patrik has been using also a Triton and a Liberty SM that can be used as a bailout rebreather with the JJ or as the primary unit. With Seacraft Ghost 2000 combined with CCR Patrik expanded his diving capabilities to deeper and longer distances.

Patrik’s favourite dive places except the Finnish mines are the caves in Mexico and France. Some of his deeper dives have been done in France but also Scandinavian cold water.

Patrik was also one of two divers who did the deepest dives in the cave recovery in Plura Cave Norway in 2014 (appeared in the movie Diving into the Unknown)

Other than diving and exploring Patrik I am also passionate about underwater photography, especially in sites few people have visited. Among the favourites are the stones crushed in the Montola mine at 145 meters depth. You can check his photos on his social media profile.
